46th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society,2024

From Sydney to Orlando, from 2023 to 2024, time and place changed, but our passion for the IEEE EMBC and our love for BME remain constant. This time, we presented three works through poster presentations by my dear partner Ruiqi Yong.

These works were completed under the guidance of my advisor, Dr. Pengfei Song. They are as follows:

1. Automated Offline Smartphone-Assisted Microfluidic Paper-Based Analytical Device for Biomarker Detection of Alzheimer’s Disease, 16th July
2. An Automated Paper-Based Analytical Device for Chemiluminescence Immunoassay, 17th July
3. Nanocellulose-Paper-Based Analytical Devices with MOFs/Heterojunction Structures for Multiplex SERS Detection, 18th July

Thanks to the attendees for their interest in and questions about our research.

Due to a major Microsoft outage, I was forced to stay at Atlanta airport for ten hours and then took an eight-hour bus ride to Orlando. Unfortunately, I missed some exciting presentations due to this force majeure. However, as President Youmin Xi of XJTLU often says, “We must always embrace the uncertainties of this world and overcome unknown challenges; this is what young students and adults need to do.”

Thanks to the IEEE EMBS organization, and to Professors Ranu Jung, Metin Akay, and Paul Sajda for providing career development opportunities for young students in the BME field. Thank you very much to Prof. Metin for sharing our work on LinkedIn.

During the conference, the work of Dr. Erin Purcell, Dr. Bige Deniz Unluturk, and other senior PhD students from the BME department allowed me to learn more about MSU. I look forward to meeting them in August and thank them for their past help and insights. Go Green!
